It’s been a while, hasn’t it?
Since Amie’s been gone, we’ll admit—we’ve been giving our blog a little less love than it deserves. Between keeping the shop buzzing, baking fresh goodies, and connecting with all of you in person, time just slipped away. But we’re back, and there’s no better way to reconnect than by talking about something that’s incredibly important to us: our fair-trade coffee.
Coffee is at the heart of what we do, and fair trade isn’t just a trendy label—it’s a philosophy we wholeheartedly believe in. So today, we’re excited to share three meaningful reasons why we choose fair-trade coffee—and why we think you’ll love it even more once you know what’s behind every cup.
☕ 1. Fair Trade Coffee Supports Real People, Not Just Big Corporations
When you buy fair trade coffee, you're helping small-scale farmers earn a living wage for their work. In conventional coffee systems, farmers are often paid far below the cost of production. Fair trade puts people first by ensuring they’re paid fairly, which means they can invest in their families, farms, and communities. Many farms also house the workers and send their children to school as well as provide health care. So that morning cup? It becomes a direct link between you and someone whose livelihood you’re supporting.
🌱 2. It’s Better for the Planet
Fair trade standards go hand in hand with environmental stewardship. Unlike many conventional farms that rely heavily on chemical pesticides and deforestation, fair trade-certified farms often use sustainable methods—protecting soil, preserving biodiversity, and reducing harmful runoff. By choosing fair trade, you’re not just sipping a cleaner cup—you’re helping protect the ecosystems that coffee depends on.
❤️ 3. Your Coffee Has a Story—Fair Trade Helps Tell It Honestly
Every coffee bean has a journey, but conventional coffee often comes with a murky supply chain. Fair trade coffee is traceable and transparent. You can learn where your beans came from and the people behind them. It turns your morning ritual into a conscious act—one with integrity, respect, and real connection.
We’re hoping to brew up a few more blog posts this summer—so stay tuned! In the meantime, we’d love to hear from you. Is there something you’ve always wondered about coffee? Curious about our favorite roasts or behind-the-scenes café life?
Send us a message and let us know what topics you’d love to see on the blog next—this space is for you, after all!
